Colorado

Connie R. Neumann, 303-776-8105, Longmont, CO, macneumann@aol.com

On the Trail of Laura Ingalls Wilder: After traveling to all of the homesites of the Ingalls and Wilders over the last 15 years, Connie has designed programs for school classes (K-5), homeschool groups, public libraries, civic organizations and church groups.

  • Antiques reflect pioneer life of the late 1800’s as Laura described in her “Little House” books
  • Slides and music transport you to all of the real “Little House” sites in the midwestern U. S.
  • Activities, games, songs and Laura’s stories demonstrate American pioneer spirit

Connie has worked for over 25 years as a teacher and children’s librarian in public schools and libraries. Her interests in American pioneers began with stories from her own Texas grandmother, and a love of making history come alive with antiques and literature. Fees are based on size of audience and how many presentations.

Iowa

Sarah S. Uthoff, 319-351-2100, Iowa City, IA, www.trundlebedtales.com

It all started a long time ago in a little white house made of boards that Sarah discovered Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books. Before anyone knew what was happening, she was “playing Laura,” visiting the Laura sites, and learning how to do the things Laura did around her family farm. In the words of one cousin, “Laura took over her life and everybody’s who knew her."

When Sarah grew up, she got her degree in history education, got
actively involved with living history and historic foodways, and began
to research the history around Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Now she wants to share all that knowledge with you!

New York & New England area

Betty Lehrman, 88 Flanagan Drive, Framingham, MA 01701, (508) 877-9738

blehrman@neaccess.net

www.bettylehrman.com

Betty Lehrman has performed as a storyteller in schools, libraries, concert halls, conferences, museums and festivals across the US and Australia. She appeared in Thailand through the US Information Service. Her three audio tapes have won Parents' Choice and American Library Association awards; several of her stories are published in anthologies. Recent venues include the Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge, MA; the WGBH-Boston, and Boston's "First Night" celebration.

Now Betty takes on the character of one of our most beloved literary heroines, becoming Laura Ingalls Wilder herself and relating the stories of the pioneer past detailed in the "Little House" books. The 45-minute program is engaging, dramatic, and participatory. With carefully researched costumes, props, pictures and music, audiences are brought wholeheartedly into Laura's world, where hardships are endured, nature is embraced and family is treasured. Six students are invited to a workshop before the show, costumed and taught the rudiments of 1870s games, which they then demonstrate within the presentation. Ms. Lehrman introduces herself, and invites the audience to travel back "to about 1912, when Laura was my age, and children would come visit her to hear about her childhood." Appropriate for ages five and up. and up. and up.. ($450 per show, or $600 for two. Transportation included within 25 miles.)
